Abernathy, Myrtle Linza – 1972
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2:30 p.m. at the Murphy Sparks 
Chapel, Flat River, for Mrs. Myrtle Linza Abernathy, who died at the 
Ozark Nursing Home in Fredericktown Feb. 17.  She was the mother 
of Mrs. Basil Starkey of Marquand.

The Rev. Fred Hartman officiated at the service and interment was in 
the Parkview Cemetery.  She was a member of the Flat River First Baptist 
Church.

Mrs. Abernathy was born Jan 15, 1890 at Hickory Grove, a daughter 
of the late John R. Wood and Cynthia Vivian Wood.  On June 14, 1911 
she was married to Frank Abernathy and he preceded her in death in 1961.

She was also preceded in death by two sons, Vernon Linza and Bobby 
Linza and a brother Leslie Wood.

Surviving are two children; Charles Dwight Linza, Sunset Beach, Calif.; 
Juanita (Mrs. Starkey); a brother Henry Wood of St. Louis; four grandchildren 
and two great grandchildren.
