Hovis, Elsie Marie 1970
Mrs. Byron Hovis, 57, died Feb 2 at Buckhorn, Mo.  Funeral services were held 
at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Feb 4 at the Big Creek Church with interment in the Farquhar 
Cemetery.  Rev. Estel Mouser was the minister. The Homan Funeral Home of 
Marquand handled arrangements. 

Elsie Marie Hovis was born Oct 13, 1912 at Allbright, Mo., the daughter of the 
late James and Alice Barrett.  She was married March 25, 1933 to Byron Hovis 
who survives.

Three children survive:  Mrs. Morris (Fern) Poe, James L. Hovis, both of Marquand 
and Rosalie of Cleveland, Ohio.  Also left are seven grandchildren; two brothers, 
Raymond Barrett, Chaffee and Chester Barrett, St. Louis; four sisters, Mrs. J. F. 
(Pearl) Stevens, Marquand;  Mrs. Wilmer (Goldie) Graham, Marquand; Mrs. Medford 
(Hazel) Dudley, St. Louis and Mrs. Ollie Young, Olathe, Colorado.

She was originally a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church but was a member 
of the Shetley;s Creek Baptist Church at the time of her death.
