Matthews, Effie P.
Effie P. Matthews of Desloge died March 13, 1985 at Mineral Area Osteopathic Hospital 
at the age of 87.  She was born November 7, 1897 in Madison County to the late Evan and 
Elmyra (Inman) Brown.  She was also preceded in death by her husband Blaine Matthews 
and one daughter Wilma.  

She is survived by two daughters, Velma (Mrs. Delbert) Adams of Rivermines and Elva 
Mae (Mrs. John) Head of Potosi Lake; one sister, Beatrice Clerc of St. Louis; 4 
grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.  

Mrs. Matthews was a member of Parkview Free Will Baptist Church for 53 years.  

Services were Friday, March 15 at 1 p.m. at Boyer Chapel with Rev. David Pinkston 
officiating, assisted by Rev. Guy Leonard.  

Interment was in Sebatian Cemetery in Madison County under the direction of C.Z. 
Boyer Funeral Home of Desloge.
