Potts, Lettie Jane - 1986
Lettie Jane "Mom" Potts of Fredericktown died at Madison Memorial Hospital 
on March 22, 1986.  She was 87.  She was born February 24, 1899 in Wayne 
County to the Benton and Katherine (Henderson) Ward.  

She married Jacob Hovis August 25, 1918 in Wayne County.  She married 
Evan Potts March 14, 1944 in Corning, Ark.  Both preceded her in death.  

Survivors include a son, Preston Hovis of Fredericktown; tow daughters, 
Kathern Glover and Geneva Hovis, both of Fredericktown, and Benton 
Ward of Patterson; a sister, Mary Matthews of Fredericktown; ten grand-
children; 22 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; and 
many nieces and nephews.  

Preceding Mrs. Potts in death were her two husband; her parents; two sisters, 
Rachel Seabaugh and Ruth Shoemaker; and two brothers, Raney Ward and 
Joseph Ward. 

She was a member of General Baptist Church in Fredericktown.  Chapel 
services were held Monday, March 24 at Wilson Funeral Home with the 
Rev. Cecil Cureton officiating.  

Burial was in Marcus Memorial Park. Pallbearers were Carl Hovis, Hollis 
Hovis, Jim Welen, Dave Forsythe, Dan White, George McDowell, and 
Goerge Torrez.
