Reed, Clayton Ellis - 1986
Clayton Ellis Reed died at the age of 83 on June 18,1986 in Jefferson 
Memorial Hospital in Festus.  Mr. Ree, a farmer in Pevely, was bon on 
February 22, 1903 in Black Mountain to the late Ida May Jett and Charles 
Albert Reed.  

Funeral services were held on Saturday June 21 at Wilson Funeral Home 
with burial in the Ashlock Cemetery.  The Rev. Cecil Sheppard was the 
officiating minister.  

Pallbearers were grandsons, Rick, Michael Allen, Danny, Clayton, Steve, 
Michael Dale, and Kevin.  

On November 29,1924 in Detroit, Mich.  Mr. Reed married the late Mary 
Mildred (Mayume) Parks.  He was later married to Virgie Reed, who survive 
in Arcadia.  Also surviving are three sons, Clayton Albert of Monterey, Tenn., 
Elmer Louis of Festus and Oran Berdette of Pevely; tow brothers Ernest 
Reed and Earl Reed, both of Detroit, Mich; three sisters, Rose Horton of 
Hillsboro, and Jewell Ryan and Lola Aho, both of Detroit; 12 grandchildren 
and 25 great-grandchildren.  

A brother, Raymond Reed, and a sister Mabel Parks preceded him in death.  
Mr. Reed was a member of the Baptist church and was a resident of Oak 
Grove Community for 30 years and was a resident at Westview Nursing 
Center for two years.
